Adding Closed Captioning to Videos
You can add a closed caption VTT file to any video in Knowbly (uploaded or hosted video). Only one VTT file can be used at this time.
To add a VTT file to a video, access the video from the Content Manager, there is a visual tag in the upper left corner on each asset that has had accessible alt text or closed captioning added.
To add a VTT file to a video, select the asset and click on the details button in the upper right corner next to the sort and filter options.
The details panel will open on the right. To add accessible text or cc, expand the “Details” section to access the button for Accessibility.
Clicking on Accessibility will open another window where you can add alt text/long description to your asset or widget. For videos there will be an additional option to add captions.
Click this option and upload the VTT file for the video from your local drive.
NOTE: While we can support closed captioning from a hosting service like YouTube, our video player will not surface these controls to allow the user to toggle. It is best to use our closed captioning service or “burn in” any closed captioning/subtitles directly into hosted video.
