To upload a file asset, navigate to the Content Manager and select New and then Assets.
Upload your local file asset to the Content Manager. You can also add tags at this point to make finding the asset easier. Click Add to complete the upload process.
Easily preview any asset by clicking the Preview button while hovering over the asset tile. A PDF version of the asset will be generated for viewing.
The PDF viewer allows you to scroll, zoom, or search your asset. Click the X on the right hand side of the viewer to close.
When searching, easily filter your file assets by choosing the specific file type you would like to filter by: PDF, Documents, Presentations, or Spreadsheets.
If you need a local version of any asset type, download the file by opening the tile menu and selecting Download.
Note: Microsoft Office non-XML formats are converted to open office XML standards on upload and any subsequent download. Specifically doc, xls, and ppt will be converted to docx, xlsx, and pptx at the initial upload.
Adding an attachment to a course
You can add a file attachment to a lesson page block that your learners can download to reference.
Note: Currently you can attach files for the learners to download to their local machine. The ability for learners to preview the attachment within the course is on our roadmap.
To add an attachment, first select a course lesson block that includes the attachment type.
Once you’ve added the attachment block, you will see the Add button to attach your file.
When adding a file, you can upload a new file attachment asset (it will be added to the Content Manager as explained in the section above).
Or select a file attachment you’ve previously uploaded to the Content Manager.
Once you’ve added your attachment, simply enter your file title and caption as you prefer.
When learners view the course, they will see this attachment and be able to download it to their local machine using the download button. You can test this functionality out in Preview mode.
