Some institutions disable the Q&A functionality. If you do not see the Questions button or panel described below, consult your school's help desk to determine whether this is the case at your institution.
If you want to view or respond to a question while viewing a classroom presentation, select the Discussion icon from the left toolbar. Each question may have multiple responses, serving as discussion points for the course material.
All questions and responses entered through the classroom questions panel also appear (for all users) in the Q&A tab for the course.
Tip: Bookmarking a question makes it show up in your Study Guide for the class (questions you post are automatically bookmarked). If another student posts a question or comment that you find interesting, click the bookmark below the question to save it (the flag changes from an outline to a filled-in icon).
The Questions icon opens a panel to the right of the presentation that displays all previously posted questions for the class and allows you to respond.
Question and response fields will accept several thousand characters, and while you can enter line breaks into the field, they are not retained. This means the post's readability imposes a practical limit on how much you can enter. Attachments are limited to 10MB.
To respond to an existing question while viewing a presentation
-
While in the classroom, click the Questions icon from the classroom toolbar across the top.
The question panel opens to the right of the main presentation panel and lists all previously posted questions for this class / presentation.
-
Click the question you want to answer.
-
Click the dialogue icon.
A response text box appears where you can enter your response. If applicable, click the paperclip icon to attach a file to your response.
- Toggle the Hide my name slider to respond without identifying you as the responder. The instructor will be able to see who responded, but other students will not.
- When finished, click Post.
Your response to the question will appear in both the question panel for the presentation and the Q&A tab for the course.
