Echo360 provides multiple ways to create recordings that don't use dedicated capture appliances. They include:
- In-Browser or "browser based" Capture
- Universal Capture - Personal (UC Personal)
- Universal Capture - Classroom (UC Classroom)
The essential difference between Universal Capture (either mode) and In-Browser Capture is that Universal Capture is a program you download from Echo360 and install on your local computer. Because of this, it contains a wider range of features, and can be used offline, without an active internet connection. It also requires a computer with a minimum set of specifications (operating system, drive space, RAM, etc.).
In-browser capture only requires an internet browser; no download, no installation, no minimum specs for the computer except that it supports an internet connection and a supported browser. This means you can use any computer including chromebooks or other netbooks, which may be more widely used.
