This page does not apply to you if your institution has configured Simplified Course Provisioning. See also Simplified Course Provisioning Options for Instructors.
You may also want to refer to Linking LMS Course to Echo Classrooms if linking to the main course page or class list is not what you want. You can do both (and many do). Create a link to the main course page via the below instructions, then create subsequent links to individual classrooms/class content as needed.
LMS/VLE courses or Microsoft (MS) Teams can be linked to one or more Echo360 courses. While typically the relationship between LMS/VLE courses/Teams and Echo360 courses is 1-to-1, some institutions need a 1-to-many relationship. The linking process is the same, however, regardless of which approach fits your situation.
Echo360 cannot restrict student access to sections. If you are linking a single LMS/VLE course to multiple Echo360 courses and not all students should have access to all linked Echo360 courses, you must be certain to configure the links in the LMS/VLE to restrict which students can see or access them. Echo360 will automatically enroll any student who links into a course through an LMS/VLE link. Contact your LMS/VLE administrator for assistance if necessary.
The instructions below assume the Echo360 section you are linking to has already been created. These procedures can be performed by an instructor or an administrator. Be advised however, if an administrator completes the linking process, they will automatically be enrolled in the Echo360 section as an Instructor. Those admins can be later un-enrolled from those sections through Echo360 once all the linking is complete.
If you are an Instructor completing these links and the selection lists are too cumbersome to navigate, contact your administrator and ask them about limiting the selections to only your enrolled Echo360 sections.
If the course/section does not yet exist in Echo360, you can manually create the course and/or section while linking through, unless that capability has been disabled for the institution. Alternately, your Administrator can enable Simplified Course Provisioning to create the Echo360 course and section automatically.
Allow Popups from the LMS/VLE site: If the LTI External tool link was properly configured to open in a new window/tab, the first time you access it, you may need to select to allow pop-ups from the LMS/VLE site in your browser. This should only be necessary on first access.
To link an LMS/VLE course or MS Team to an Echo360 course
- Log into the LMS/VLE as either an instructor or an admin.
- Open the LMS/VLE course or section you want to link.
- Click the Echo360 tool link already added to the course. If there isn't one, see the appropriate instructional page for your LMS/VLE or MS Team :

If you want to link directly into a particular class, follow the instructions in Linking LMS Course to Echo Classrooms.
The LMS/VLE course/MS Team is now linked to the corresponding Echo360 course. Users clicking the Echo360 link (or tab) are taken to the Class List for the Echo360 section you just linked.
Admins that establish the link to Echo360 are automatically enrolled as instructors into the Echo360 section. They can be unenrolled later, after all the LMS/VLE links to Echo are established.
Linking an LMS Course to Multiple Echo360 course sections
Most LMS/VLE courses link to a single Echo360 course section. However you can link any LMS/VLE course to as many Echo360 sections as you want to.
To link an LMS/VLE course or section to additional Echo360 courses
- Create an additional Echo360 tool link for the course/new tab for the MS Team. See the appropriate instructional page for your LMS/VLE/MS Team (linked in above instructions) if necessary.
When the Connect to Echo360 section page appears, it will list any Echo360 sections already linked to this LMS course or Team, along with a Link a different section option.
- Click Link a different section as shown in the below figure.
The page expands to show course/term/section drop-down lists to select from.
- Use the drop-down lists that appear to find the course, term, and section to link to.
- If necessary select the Link to the Section Home radio button (it is selected by default).
- Click LINK CONTENT.
The LMS course/section is now linked to the additional Echo360 section. Users clicking this Echo360 link in the LMS are taken to the Class List for the second Echo360 section you just linked.
AS CITED ABOVE - Echo360 cannot restrict student access to sections. If you are linking a single LMS/VLE course to multiple Echo360 sections and not all students should have access to all linked Echo360 sections, you must be certain to configure the links in the LMS/VLE to restrict which students can see or access them. Echo360 will automatically enroll any student who links into a section through an LMS/VLE link. Contact your LMS/VLE administrator for assistance if necessary.
