You can edit the configuration of an individual managed capture device from the Rooms page. Device-specific configuration changes are typically made to accommodate the equipment or environment in a particular room.

Because rooms and managed capture devices have a one-to-one relationship in EchoVideo, configuring a room also configures its associated device.

Important: Changes made in EchoVideo update the device's device.xml configuration file. If you later upload a different device.xml file to the appliance, any changes made through the EchoVideo interface are overwritten.

Edit an Individual Device Configuration

To edit the configuration for a single managed capture device:

From the main menu, select Rooms.
Use the search and filters to find the room with the device you need to change.
Mouse over a Room tile and click the chevron in the upper-right corner, as shown in the figure below.
Select Configure.
Update the device settings as needed.
Click SAVE.

The available settings depend on the type of capture appliance assigned to the room. For more information, refer to the appropriate documentation:

Enable the sliders only for inputs that have recording devices connected to the appliance. For example, if the HDMI input is being used but DVI is not, be sure to disable the DVI slider for that channel. Enabled input sliders determine which Capture input selections are available when creating a capture, whether scheduled or ad hoc. If only active input selections are enabled for each channel, users cannot inadvertently make invalid capture input selections.

Configuring Device Network Settings: Network Settings for capture appliances must be configured individually, not via the default device settings page. All devices default to using DHCP, but can be configured to use a Static IP address instead. See Using a Static IP Address for Appliance Network Configuration for instructions.
Alternatively, for both the Pro and the Pod, IP Mode can be changed via the Menu options on the appliance's front panel.

Enable Remote Support

Remote Support allows authorized Echo360 Support personnel to remotely access a POD or PRO capture appliance using SSH for troubleshooting and diagnostics.

To improve the security of EchoVideo capture appliances, SSH access is disabled by default and should only be enabled when requested by Echo360 Support during an active support session.

Note: Enabling Remote Support does not provide SSH credentials to your institution. SSH access is reserved exclusively for authorized Echo360 Support personnel.

From the main menu, select Rooms.
Use the search and filters to find the room with the device you need to change.
Mouse over a Room tile and click the chevron in the upper-right corner, as shown in the figure below.
Select Configure.
Locate the Remote Support section, and toggle Enable access for Echo360 support staff on.
Click SAVE.

When enabled, the appliance updates its configuration immediately to allow SSH access.

After enabling Remote Support, coordinate with Echo360 Support to complete the troubleshooting session.

Note: If Remote Support is disabled in the room configuration, you can temporarily enable it from the Pro or Pod front-panel administrative menu. The temporary setting is removed when the appliance restarts, at which point Remote Support is disabled again unless it is enabled in the room configuration. When Remote Support is enabled in the room configuration, it is managed by EchoVideo and cannot be changed from the front panel.

Download a Device Configuration

After configuring a managed capture device, you can download the resulting device.xml file and apply it to other compatible devices.
