This, along with other legacy CSV imports, has been replaced by the CSV Import / Export features on the Imports / Exports tab in EchoVideo. The legacy imports are slated for removal from EchoVideo in the near future. Please begin migrating your import workflow to use the new functionality.
See Using Imports/Exports and CSV Files for more information and links to associated topics.
The room import feature allows you to create multiple rooms at once in the system across multiple campuses or buildings, as applicable to your situation. You can also create campuses and buildings via the import.
BEST PRACTICE: Export the sample rooms.csv file first (see procedure below) to use as a template for your import. Replace the sample data, but leave the header row. Then import a few rooms at a time (and campuses or buildings if desired), reviewing your imported data for accuracy. This helps ensure the success of a larger import.
Using the Import feature requires creating a CSV file that includes the following fields (in this order):
| Column/Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Campus | The campus where the room is located. Required. Will be created if the Campus provided does not already exist. See IMPORTANT note below. |
| Building Name | The building where the room is located. Required. Will be created if the building provided does not already exist. See IMPORTANT note below. |
| Room | Identifier for the room, such as a room name or number. |
| Timezone | Timezone for the location of the room. This is used to properly sync section schedules and lecture captures performed by the device. |
IMPORTANT: If you are adding rooms to an existing campus and / or building, be sure to use the exact campus and/or building name in the CSV file; if you enter a name that does not match, a new campus/building is created, and your rooms are associated with the new campus/building.
To create rooms (and campuses or buildings) from a CSV file import
- From the main menu, click Rooms.
- At the top of the Rooms Management screen, click Import Rooms.
-
Click SELECT FILE.
NOTE: Click the Download a sample .csv file link to obtain a properly formatted CSV file to use as a template.
- In the Filepicker window, use the left panel to identify the location of the file, then follow the prompts. If the file is saved locally, click Choose File at the bottom of the window, then navigate to the .csv file you want to import.
- Review the progress screen and note any entries that may contain errors.
- Click DONE when the import is complete.
Check the Rooms page to verify the import accuracy. Check the Campus and Buildings lists to review new items created by the import, if applicable.
