New Features Ready to Turn On
These features are ready to go. Ask your CSM if you’d like to learn more and turn them on.
All Products: Self-Service Password Reset Improvements
These improvements will make it easier for users without an email address to reset their passwords.
- Users will be able to change their passwords by answering at least 1 question correctly
- Users will be able to reset their security questions / answers once logged in to Inkling
- The question banks have been consolidated and updated
For more information, see Inkling User Guide > Ch. 1 Get Started > Manage Passwords.
Learning Pathways: Global Managers & Supervisors
Individual managers and supervisors can be added via Dynamic Team Rules to track and manage team and learner progress across entire regions, departments, and more. Adding users this way will automatically add the user as a manager or supervisor to all teams created by the Team Rule. This can increase visibility for regional or district managers who oversee learners across multiple teams. You will also be able to add individual managers and supervisors to existing teams.
This feature will be available in early July. For more information, see Inkling Administrator Guide > Ch. 8 > Create and Manage Teams.
Inkling for iOS & Android
Activity-Based Timeout
How did it work?
Historically, users of our mobile apps have been tied to the same static timeout across all Inkling/Habitat users in the organization. This
What changed?
Organizations can now create their own custom rule around when users get logged out of their iOS & Android apps due to inactivity. This keeps users from getting signed out in the middle of using the app while also offering more data protection. If you’re interested in utilizing this functionality, reach out to your CSM with your desired timeout duration and we’ll get it set up right away.
Self-Service Coaching & Feedback Step Authoring
What is Coaching & Feedback?
Coaching and Feedback is a mobile-exclusive Learning Pathways step that serves as a bi-directional mechanism for learner/trainer feedback and for proof of completion via a photo or video submission. The Coaching & Feedback course step requires learners to upload an image or video in order to complete the step. This media submission is then sent to a manager/supervisor for their final approval or rejection of the submission, allowing an opportunity to add additional feedback that will be presented back to the learner.
How did it work?
Coaching & Feedback users had to work with the Inkling team to manually configure their Learning Pathways courses to enable the Coaching & Feedback experience. This restricted course authors from making on-the-fly changes and spinning up new courses with ease.
What changed?
Habitat course authors on the web can now create their own Coaching & Feedback course steps without any intervention from Inkling support.
User Experience Improvements
What changed?
We’ve made a number of improvements around the app to increase performance, support additional languages, modernize visual elements, and offer increased visibility and notification options for course-takers.
Library: New Library experience in Beta
We keep hearing from our customers how important it is to help their end users find their content quickly and easily. To do that, we’ve created a new Library experience. With this redesign, the left side panel makes it easy to find what you need. Jump back into a document you were just reading, using Recently Viewed or favorite the content you use most often.
Filter your content quickly by language and collection.
The new Library is currently in Beta and being used by early adopter customer participants in Inkling Labs. Want to be an alpha or beta tester? We are taking candidates for early adopters to turn on the Beta version of the Library. If you’re interested, talk to your CSM.
Habitat: Strong and emphasis tags
You can now use strong and emphasis tags in Habitat instead of bold and italics. This can make it easier for screen readers to identify the impact of the content. To turn it on, contact your Inkling CSM.
New Features Automatically Available
These features are automatically available in Inkling. You can use them right now. You do not need your CSM to turn them on for you.
All Products: Added Gujarati (new language)
We released Gujarati for all Inkling products, bringing our language support to a total of 41 languages.
It is available now and ready to use.
Habitat: Accessibility support
Roles and labels in HTML
Added support for HTML5 accessibility. You can now use the following elements and attributes in the code view of Habitat, without validation errors:
- Dialog element
- Meter element
- Aria-current attribute
- Say-as element
- Speak element
- Role attribute
InkForms: Notifications Digest
How did it work?
A form author or identified business owner could get an email alert every time someone filled out the form. For some forms, this was a lot of email. Owner could also access the form table and see all submissions however there was no prompt.
What changed?
In addition to or instead of receiving a notification each time there is a new form submission, an owner can create a periodic summary notification, a digest, of all submissions since the previous notification. This can be sent daily, weekly or monthly as desired.
How do I find it?
It is enabled by default and found under form settings when editing a form. If you would like to create a single digest for two or more forms, from My Forms or Team Forms view, select two or more forms and you will see an option to create new digest. You will not see this option unless you have selected forms.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Featured Content metrics in Habitat were different on the main Featured Content screen, compared to clicking into the same Featured Content item and on the Tableau dashboard.
- Fixed an issue where some courses were not being assigned to learners via Automated Assignment Rules.
- Fixed an issue where some users of the iOS app were not able to link to other pages after downloading an Inkdoc.
