EchoVideo 2020 Deployment Notes 21-22 April

These Release Notes contain a summary of changes made for the April 21-22, 2020 release of EchoVideo. For changes made in previous deployments, see the other Release Notes articles located in this Topic group, or contact support@echo360.com.

New Features

EchoVideo now has a Transcript editor!

Instructors and TAs can now edit transcripts directly within EchoVideo without having to export the transcript and edit it offline.

Features include conflict management to support multiple users editing at the same time, version control, the ability to merge different versions cue-by-cue, confidence scores for words generated by the Amazon Transcribe service, applying a transcript to the closed captioning track within one click, searching text to find and replace or find and replace all, exporting transcripts as a simplified .txt file, a “pause while typing” for ease of editing while using the associated video for reference, and more.

EchoVideo now has a Reporting API!

The reporting API provides self-service, programmatic access to data that EchoVideo has recorded about activity on the platform. This includes data on video views, classroom interaction such as questions and polls, and user engagement. The data included some reports that can be customized, such as limiting the results over a specific time range. The output format can also be specified.

Enhancements

  • Video Asset Report: Updated our architecture behind the video assets report resulting in both improved performance and calculation of video view durations. (This had been listed in the previous release notes but was removed from the release after final testing; this feature is being released with this deployment.)
  • Universal Capture Improvements: We’ve added multiple new enhancements to Universal Capture, including:
    • A link to the documentation on streaming requirements has been added to the Capture Details page.
    • Improved the styling of the Record button.
    • Improved the limitation logic when setting a capture duration.
    • The Publish To list now only shows Sections in active Terms.
    • The Live badge in the Universal Capture UI is now dynamic and accurately reflects the status of the Live stream for students, showing Live only when the stream is actually available. For more information, see Live Streaming with Universal Capture.
  • Device Software Update: 6.0.687391784
    NOTE: The Device Software Update entry is only included when an update is being deployed; the legacy software version is NOT likely to change often, and it is not included if no updates are being deployed.

Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where Dropbox was not authenticating properly in Filestack for file uploads.
  • Users can now delete future capture occurrences in bulk from the Schedule area of the Captures tab.
  • Resolved an issue where both the Schedule area of the Captures tab and the calendar view were showing schedules from the past.
  • Resolved an issue where the schedule calendar was showing captures not relevant to the selected room.
  • Resolved an issue where March 31st, 2020 was not being reported on the Engagement Dashboard.
  • Resolved an issue where Universal Capture software was not cleaning up old files when disk space became low.
  • Resolved an issue where uploads could potentially become stuck due to corrupt authorization files.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing increased latency on ad hoc Live streams.
