EchoVideo 2020 Deployment Notes 19-20 May

These Release Notes contain a summary of changes made for the May 19-20, 2020 release of EchoVideo. For changes made in previous deployments, see the other Release Notes articles located in this Topic group, or contact support@echo360.com.

The master media change for Universal Capture devices originally listed in these release notes was rolled back due to a technical issue and will be redeployed June, 2-3rd.

Enhancements

  • Video Asset Reporting API: The Reporting API for video assets has had the following changes made:
    • The Reporting API now provides an “assetbydate” report allowing you to run a video asset report based on a date range.
    • The “last_view” column count no longer includes “downloads” in the count; this means the last_view column may say 0 but is still included in the report because the video asset has one or more downloads.
    • Both the asset and assetbydate report now include a “published_date” column that contains the date the item was published to the section identified in that row of the report (if applicable).

  • Capture Duration for extended captures: The Captures page for Admins now accurately reflects the duration/times for captures that were started early and/or extended.
  • Class List improvements for Live Streamed Classes: The following changes have been made to what is (and is not) shown in the class list for live streamed classes. These include:
    • For Live Streamed Classes that have been stopped early, the Class List page now shows the Live badge only while the live stream is active. When the stream is stopped, the Live badge is removed, and the duration of the capture is updated to reflect the time the stream was stopped.
    • For Live Streamed Classes that are canceled and that have no presentation attached, the Class is now removed from the Class List page.
    • For Live Streamed Classes that are canceled and that do have a presentation attached, the Class will remain in the Class List page. If it was a scheduled capture, it will display a red video icon. If it was an ad hoc capture, it will display the + icon.
    • Fixed an issue where canceled captures could appear as playable.
  • Improved the performance and experience with live captures that have a large audience.
  • Updated “Waiting for Live Stream” messaging in the Universal Capture UI: We recently released an enhancement for users within UC that lets you know whether or not your live stream is accessible for Students yet. We have improved this to now also let you know when the live stream will be accessible.

  • Transcript Editor Improvements: A variety of improvements and fixes to the UI and to the synchronization of the EchoVideo transcript editor.
  • Device Software Update: 6.0.689817439
    NOTE: The Device Software Update entry is only included when an update is being deployed; the legacy software version is NOT likely to change often, and it is not included if no updates are being deployed.

Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where Administrators could not add or edit a transcript for an uploaded video that had not yet been published.
  • Resolved an issue that would prevent UC Mac installations from synchronizing with EchoVideo properly on some networks.
  • Resolved an issue where some browsers could use significant energy when viewing captures with multiple external displays connected.
  • Resolved an issue where ad hoc live streams from UC: Personal devices were not displaying the correct message in the Classroom to viewers when the stream was over.
  • Resolved an issue in Universal Capture where, if a title was entered while the input previews were still loading, the title could be reset back to 'Untitled' once they finished loading.
  • Resolved an issue where Firefox was not loading dual-video captures in the Editor correctly.
  • Resolved an issue where Q&A with video references that were created on live streams were able to be clicked on from the Study Guide before the VOD version was done processing.
  • The following issues were released as a hotfix:
    • Resolved an issue where Universal Capture on some Windows machines was no longer able to capture at a 1366x768 resolution.
    • Resolved an issue where Universal Capture could potentially appear to have stopped recording when, in fact, it was continuing to record.
  • Resolved an issue with browser cookies and LMS users viewing EchoVideo content in a frame.
  • Downloading source or processed files from the media details page no longer opens a new empty tab.
  • Resolved several permissions issues surrounding links to sections (both public and open registration) and groups (to add users to the group) and how they behaved in certain browser sessions.
