As of June 30, 2024, ExamView will officially reach its end of life.

Please be advised that after ExamView’s end-of-life date of June 30th, 2024, we will no longer be providing updates, security patches, or technical support for any version of ExamView. Our obligations to maintain or support ExamView will cease as of this date. Continued use of ExamView post end-of-life may expose you to increased security vulnerabilities, compatibility issues, and potentially reduced functionality. To avoid these risks and ensure uninterrupted service, we encourage migrating to EchoExam, which is designed to offer superior security, compatibility, and a range of advanced features that align with current technological standards. Question banks, tests, classes, and other ExamView files from v7.5 and earlier are stored in a different location than ExamView files from v8.1 and newer. These instructions outline how to move data files from ExamView v7.5 and earlier to the appropriate location for ExamView v8.1 and newer so that you can continue to use all of your content.

PC File Management

1. Locate your previous version of ExamView on your hard drive.
   

   C:\ExamView - The path could be different than what is listed if the default install path was not used.

2. Move the content in your Banks folder from the previous version of ExamView to the new location.
   
   • Select the folders containing the banks you want to move and cut them.
   • Navigate to the Banks folder in the new ExamView installation path shown below.
     
     • C:\Program Files\eInstruction\ExamView\Banks
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\eInstruction\ExamView\Banks
   • Paste the banks into the new location for Banks.
3. Move the content in your Classes folder from the previous version of ExamView to the new location.
   
   • Select the class files you want to move and cut them.
   • Navigate to the Classes folder in the new ExamView installation path shown below.
     • C:\Program Files\eInstruction\ExamView\Classes
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\eInstruction\ExamView\Classes
   • Paste the class files into the new location for Classes.
4. Move the content in your Publish folder from the previous version of ExamView to the new location.
   • Select the files in your Publish folder that you want to move and cut them.
   • Navigate to the Publish folder in the new ExamView installation path shown below.
     • C:\Program Files\eInstruction\ExamView\Publish
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\eInstruction\ExamView\Publish
   • Paste the files into the new location for Publish.
5. Move the content in your Tests folder from the previous version of ExamView to the new location.
   • Select the folders containing the tests you want to move and cut them.
   • Navigate to the Tests folder in the new ExamView installation path shown below.
     • C:\Program Files\eInstruction\ExamView\Tests
     • C:\Program Files (x86)\eInstruction\ExamView\Tests
   • Paste the tests into the new location for Tests.
6. Reset the default locations for opening and saving banks and tests.
   • Open the ExamView Test Generator, go to the Edit menu, and choose Preferences.
   • Choose the Files tab and use the folder icons on the right to set your defaults to the proper locations as shown below.
   • If you do not have Program Files (x86), use Program Files.
