ExamView to PointSolutions Desktop Mac: Installing ExamView

NOTICE:  EXAMVIEW END-OF-LIFE ANNOUNCEMENT

As of June 30, 2024, ExamView will officially reach its end of life.

Please be advised that after ExamView’s end-of-life date of June 30th, 2024, we will no longer be providing updates, security patches, or technical support for any version of ExamView. Our obligations to maintain or support ExamView will cease as of this date. Continued use of ExamView post end-of-life may expose you to increased security vulnerabilities, compatibility issues, and potentially reduced functionality. ExamView content is compatible with newer Mac operating systems when used with PointSolutions Desktop. When instructors get a new textbook, they must first install the ExamView content. 

Installing ExamView Content

Download ExamView

  1. Log into your publisher's website.
  2. Navigate to and click on the textbook you want to download content for.
  3. Click Instructor Resources (or something similar).
  4. Click Download by Resource Type (or something similar).
  5. Download the Test Banks – ExamView for Mac.

    Some publishers will provide a USB or CD/DVD instead. If this is the case, please insert the USB or CD/DVD and skip to Install ExamView.

Install ExamView

  1. Open your Downloads folder. 
  2. Double-click the .zip file you downloaded from the publisher website.
  3. From the main, unzipped folder, or from the USB or CD/DVD, double-click the ExamView Installer.pkg. 

    You may need an Admin/IT password to continue.

    Do not double-click the ExamView Player Installer.pkg from inside the EVPlayer folder. This installer does not contain the questions banks for your textbook.

  4. Click OK to close the message box that appears, as shown in the figure below. ExamView Installer.pkg can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software window with OK button identified as described.
  5. Open System Preferences.
  6. Go to Security & Privacy and select the General tab, as shown in the figure below. Security and Privacy settings with General tab, allow apps from App Store and identified developers, and Open Anyways button identified as described.
  7. If you have been blocked from opening an app within the past hour, you can override this by clicking the temporary Open Anyway button, as shown in the figure above.
  8. Click Open to run the installer in the message box that appears, as shown in the figure below. ExamView Installer.pkg can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software window with Open button identified as described.

You need a PointSolutions account to continue. If you have already set up a PointSolutions account for one of our products, use that email address and password to log into PointSolutions Desktop.
