Using ExamView v11 you can export tests and question banks to Schoology. This feature gives you the flexibility to create tests in ExamView and then deliver them online via Schoology.

Exporting a Test / Question Bank for Schoology

Question banks or tests can be exported to a Schoology-formatted file for import into the LMS.

1. Create or open a test / question bank in ExamView Test Generator.
2. Click File from the menu bar.
3. Choose Export.
4. Select Schoology.
5. Select the save location, enter a File name and click Save. 
   

   The question content is saved as a ZIP file.

   Take note of where the file is being saved as you will need to locate it later when uploading to the Schoology Course. The file is not saved until the Export to Schoology wizard is completed.

6. Under Test Information, enter a Name. 
   

   You may also enter an optional description to provide additional information about the test or bank.

   The Name is the name displayed in Schoology’s Course Materials or Resources. Choose a name that will be helpful to you in working with the questions. For example, you could use Chapter 1. The name can be a maximum of 128 characters.

7. Leave the Formatting and Feedback options at their default.
8. Enter a unique Directory Name for the test / question bank images.
   

   Make sure that the folder name is unique for this question pool. The Directory Name is used to store images that are required by questions in the test or question bank. The name you supply should be unique for the test or question bank you are exporting. If you use the same name for multiple tests or question banks, images may be overwritten when the file is imported into Schoology. In this case, the questions in the existing question pool or quiz will show the wrong images. If you are exporting the same test or question bank multiple times, you can save space on your Schoology server by using the same Directory Name for images each time you export. If none of the questions in your test / question bank contain images, the directory name you provide will be ignored. However, you must still supply a name.

9. Click OK to export the test / question bank.

   The question content export is saved as a ZIP file.

How to upload tests into Schoology

1. Log in to your Schoology account.
   

   The Recent Activity page appears.

2. Select the desired course name from the Courses dropdown.
   

   The Course page appears.

3. Click the Add Materials dropdown and select Add Test / Quiz.
   

   The Create Test / Quiz window appears.

4. Enter a Name and select a Category and Scale.
5. Click Create.
   

   The assessment page appears.

6. Click the +Add Question button and then Import Test / Quiz.
7. In the Import Questions window, select to Import from Blackboard
8. Click Next. On the next screen, click on the File icon.
9. Navigate to where you saved the ExamView test export and click Open.
10. Click Import.

The import will process and the test questions will now appear in the Questions tab of the assessment.

How to upload question banks into Schoology

1. Log in to your Schoology account.
   

   The Recent Activity page appears.

2. Select Personal from the Resources dropdown.
   

   A My Resources page appears.

3. Select Import from the dropdown next to My Resources.
   

   The Import Collection window appears.

4. Select Schoology from Import from:.
5. Select New Collection from Import to:.
6. Enter a Collection title: and click Next.
7. Click Attach File and Navigate to where you save the ExamView bank export.
8. Click Open.
9. Click Import.

The import will process and the Collection will now appear in the list under My Resources.

Creating a Quiz in Schoology

For tests exported to Schoology format, the test or quiz will already be imported as an assessment and will not require additional creation steps.

Follow your normal procedures for creating a test or quiz from the banks you uploaded.

Schoology Troubleshooting

If you have problems exporting / importing questions, refer to the information provided below.

The following information describes situations where content exported from ExamView may be modified to fit the constraints imposed by Brightspace by D2L.

• Schoology does not support the concept of a narrative (a common piece of information shared by multiple questions).
• During export to Schoology, ExamView copies the content of each narrative to every question that refers to the narrative.
• Schoology does not support Matching groups with more answer choices than questions.
• Schoology supports Matching groups with more questions than answer choices.
• Schoology supports Matching groups with an equal number of questions and answer choices.
• Commonly used characters are well supported. Some of the less common characters are not supported.
