The Transcript editor provides a playback panel on the left side of the page. This lets you view and listen to the media while editing the transcript.
The Playback panel provides the same kinds of controls as most EchoVideo media players, including play / pause, scrub on the timeline, variable-speed playback, show closed captions, and selection between video or audio-only sources if there are more than one to choose from.
When the editor opens, the volume slider is set to half by default. Slide the handle to change the volume level (to the right for more; to the left for less). Click on the volume button to mute / unmute the video.
Click Play to play the video; the play button changes to a Pause button. If the page focuses on the player, you can also use the spacebar to play and pause the video (hitting the spacebar while editing the text in a transcript cue will, as expected, add a space).
Click on the timeline directly above the control buttons or slide the playhead to skip to a different location in the media. The timestamp to the right of the volume slider tells you where the playback head is located in the video and its total time.
The Source drop-down list lets you select either of the media's Video feeds (if there is more than one) or only the Audio of the recording.
The Speed drop-down list allows you to play the media at variable speeds, from half speed (0.25x) up to 2x speed.
The Pause when typing toggle does precisely that. It pauses the player while you are typing in a transcript cue. This lets you finish typing before returning to the player to resume playback.
