The information in this article is for sharing a single piece of media with a single other user. If you have multiple media to share with one or more users, use the Collections feature to create a Collection, add media to the Collection, and then add the user(s) you want to share with as members.

The media you own in the Library is yours to do as you please, including sharing it with other EchoVideo users. Sharing an item with another EchoVideo user makes it appear in their Library, though it does so with YOUR name on the tile because you are still the owner.

Interactive Media and Polls cannot be shared directly with student-only users (users who have only the student role in EchoVideo). Those users do not appear in the selection list for Individual sharing. If you need to share interactive media and polls with students, create a Collection for the media and users.

Also, since you own the content, you control who it is shared with and who it is NOT shared with; you can un-share content by clicking the X next to a user's name in the Individuals sharing list on the Media Details page.

Sharing content with users can be done by:

• Click the menu button on the media tile on the Library, then click Share. The Individuals tab shows by default.
• Click ON the media tile to open the Media Details page. Then, navigate to the Individuals section of the Publishing tab.

NOTE that un-sharing content can only be done from the Media Details page.

You can also select Share from the options immediately below the playback panel of the media details page. This is the same Share Settings modal you get from the Library tile menu Share option.

If you need to share video or audio media with users outside of EchoVideo, you can create and share a Public link to the media. Individual Sharing can only be done to other EchoVideo users; Public Links can be viewed by external and EchoVideo users.

Sharing Media from the Library Tile

To share media from the tile on your Library page

1. If necessary, click Library from the top navigation bar.
2. Use the Filters and / or Search box to find the item you want to share (you can only share media you own).
3. Hover over the media tile and click the Menu button.
4. Select Share from the media options menu, as shown in the below figure.
   

   The Share settings modal appears with the Individuals tab active by default. Depending on how and where you can share the media, this modal can have one to four tabs.
   

5. Use the Share with drop-down list at the bottom of the modal to select a user with whom you want to share the media.
6. Type directly into the textbox to filter the list based on the text provided. Continue typing or backspace as needed to find the user you want.
   
   

   NOTE: The Search matches the first portion of the text entered, though it can be the first part of the user's First name, Last name, or Email address.

7. Select the matching user with whom you want to share this media. Once selected, the user appears in the Individual shares list, as shown in the figure below.
   

Repeat the above steps to share the item with additional users. Then click Done when finished.

The share modal is only for quickly creating new shares. Open the Media Details Page to see / manage existing shares.

Sharing Media from the Media Details Page

To share media from the Media Details page

1. Click on a media tile to open the Media Details page.
   Click Share directly under the playback panel to open the Share Settings modal described in the above steps, or use the instructions below.
2. Navigate to the Publishing tab, where the Individuals section appears by default.
3. Click on the Share with drop-down box and begin typing the name or email address of the EchoVideo user you want to share with.

   As you type, matching users appear for selection, as shown in the below figure. The more you type, the shorter the selection list becomes.

4. Select the user from the list when they appear.
5. Repeat these steps to share with more users.

The media is now shared with the selected user(s), who appear listed in the Individuals section of the Publishing tab until you unshare it with them or they remove it from their Library.

The recipients will not receive any notice that you have shared content with them, so let them know to look in their Library.

Click the X next to a user to unshare this media with them.
