Creating and Viewing Moodle Assignments for Student Video Submission from Echo360
Last Updated: May 13, 2019 02:35PM EDT

This article applies to:  Echo360 Instructors

As long as your Moodle Administrator has installed the Echo360 Plugin and Filter for Moodle and configured Moodle to allow students to embed videos from Echo360, all you have to do as an instructor is create a Moodle Assignment the way you ordinarily do.

Add Activity list in Moodle with Assignment selected as described

The only setting that is required specific to video embeds is to select Online Text as a Submission type.
Moodle Assignment Submission types options with Online Text selected an identified as described

Once a student submits an Echo360 video as a response to a Moodle Assignment, that video is locked down on the Echo360 side. The student cannot edit or delete the video once it is locked (an Echo360 administrator can delete the video if necessary).

After submission, you can view the student's Echo360 video submissions from within the assignment grading area of the Moodle interface. Note that the below procedure is provided as a guide. If you need further instructions or assistance, please refer to your Moodle documentation.

To view student Echo360 video submissions for an assignment

  1. Open your Moodle course, and select the Assignment activity you want to grade.
  2. Click View all submissions.

  3. Each student who has submitted a response is listed. Click Grade for the student whose submission you want to view.

  4. The embedded Echo360 video appears on the student submission page. Click the Play icon to view the video. The standard grading options are located below the video.

If you do NOT see the embedded video or cannot play it back in the submission page, contact your Moodle Administrator. Your administrator must have upgraded to the newest Echo360 plugin AND installed the accompanying Filter in order for student video submissions to be viewable within the grading interface in Moodle.
