Access Universal Capture

Universal Capture is a cross-platform application that can be installed on a classroom computer in Classroom mode or on a personal computer in Personal mode and is used as a capture device for recording lectures and other classroom activities. Because it has an easy to use interface, instructors can easily access/launch the interface, log in, and use it to create or control captures as needed. The same Universal Capture UI is now available on appliances as well (Pro and Pod), creating a consistent user experience across all capture mediums.

Classroom mode of Universal Capture allows for remote monitoring of the computer, remote control of recordings and, if enabled, allows the application to be accessed from anywhere using the Cloud.

Desktop Application

The Universal Capture desktop application can be launched either using a desktop shortcut or:

Via the Applications menu on a Mac, as shown in the below figure.

Via the Start menu on a Windows PC, as shown in the below figure.

Device Web UI (Classroom & Appliances only)

Access any Universal Capture capable Room through the local device Web UI by navigating to the IP address or domain name for the device in your web browser.

NOTE that the Universal Capture device Web UI is only accessible if single sign-on (SSO) for devices has been enabled for your Institution and is configured on the device. Contact Echo360 support for more information on Device SSO.

Cloud (Classroom & Appliances only)

Access any managed Universal Capture capable Room through the Cloud, by clicking Universal Capture on the Echo360 Home, as shown in the below figure.

NOTE that you can always click Universal Capture to access the Cloud interface for a Universal Capture capable Room, even if a recording is ongoing.
