Creating Copies of Captures

While the Save As feature in the video editor does allow you to create a copy of a video or capture, it assumes you are also making edits and sends the capture through the media processor.

If all you want is a copy of an existing capture, use the Create Copy feature. It is available from the Captures page using the chevron menu for Completed captures, or via the Copy icon in the capture detail page.

Copying can take some time for large files. The create copy feature simply makes a copy of the original, but generating this copy can take some time. While this is happening, the copy will appear to be in "processing" status but it is not actually being put through the media processor. In addition, you cannot view the copy until the copy process is complete. The new copy, once created, will appear in the Completed captures list.

To create a copy of a capture or video

  1. From the CAPTURES page, find the capture you want.
  2. Click on the capture row.
The capture details page appears as shown in the figure below.

  3. Click the Create copy icon, located in the top right corner of the playback pane and identified in the above figure.

Once copying is complete, the copy appears in the Captures list with "(Copy)" appended to the capture name, and the new capture copy has the date the copy was made (not the date of the original). In addition, the user who selected to make the copy is the owner of the copy.

You can also click the Info tab in the bottom section of the capture details page to view detailed event information about the copy. Notice that the Events information is different than in a typical capture, citing when the capture copy was started and when it completed.
