Adding/Publishing a Presentation to a Class
Last Updated: Jun 03, 2019 11:26AM EDT

This article applies to:  Echo360 Instructors

When adding media to a class from the class list, there are three options given for adding a presentation:

  • Upload - select a presentation file (PPT or PDF) from your computer or cloud storage, publish it immediately to the class
(It becomes available for viewing AFTER it is processed, so there may be a delay, depending on the size of the presentation)
  • Import - select a presentation that has already been uploaded to your Echo360 content library
  • Create - create a new presentation directly in Echo360
(These presentations are created using only activity/polling slides, media slides, and blank slides; you can edit the presentation later, adding other types of pages from uploaded files.)
Uploading and importing are the most common methods of adding presentations to classes and are the methods addressed below. Creating a new presentation in Echo360 specifically for publishing to a class is less common and is addressed in a different article. You can also share/publish to a class from your content library as opposed to doing so from the class list.

Once the presentation has been published, you can make it available or unavailable, or set an availability schedule, allowing the item to be viewed beginning on a certain date and/or for a set period of time.

NOTE: Each class can contain ONE presentation and ONE video. If you need to provide multiple presentations for a particular class, create a new class to hold the media. If necessary, you can then create a new collection and group related classes together in the collection.

Troubleshooting: If you use a plug-in (such as ChemDraw) to generate equations, molecular drawings, or other items for your PowerPoint presentation, you may find these being stripped or otherwise altered when you upload the file. In this case, convert the PPT to PDF and upload the PDFAlternately, for Windows users, use the Echo360 PowerPoint Ribbon add-on to publish the presentation. Both of these methods retain plug-in content in the presentation.
